Methodology for data acquisition, storage and treatment

In Ecological Studies 2003, pp. 9-35

Edited by Valentini, R.

Risø National Laboratory for Sustainable Energy, Technical University of Denmark1

The computation of half-hourly fluxes is complex and requires the treatment of a large amount (on the order of 105) of instantaneous measurements. It requires several operations that may be performed in different ways, and experience has shown that the results were sensitive to the computation procedure.

Before making any comparison between different sites, one must be assured that the fluxes are computed in the same way on each site. It is therefore necessary to define a methodology for measurement and flux computation to be used by all the network teams.
