The paper addresses the problem of optimal selection of Radio Access Technology (RAT) and assignment of resources in a multistandard wireless network scenario. It is shown how OPNET Modeler can be used to perform optimization studies using Integer Linear Programming (ILP) solvers. In this way an ongoing simulation is continuously fed with optimal assignment results.

The setup allows the bounds of performance indicators to be defined and enables analysis and comparison with heuristic approaches and such results are given for the considered scenario.
