Thermoelectric power of Gd-doped barium cerate
The thermoelectric power and electrical conductivity of BaCe0.9Gd0.1O3−δ were determined as functions of oxygen and water vapour activities and temperature. Regions of oxide ion, electron hole and protonic conductivity were observed. A theory of thermoelectric power of proton conductors is presented and the possibility of using thermoelectric power measurements to detect protonic conductivity is discussed.
The theory cannot at present explain the results of all the measurements.
