Increasing line rate by combining ETDM and OTDM in a semiconductor Mach-Zehnder modulator
Line rate is doubled by combining electrical time division multiplexing (ETDM) and OTDM techniques in a semiconductor Mach-Zehnder modulator. 20 Gb/s optical signal is successfully generated using a 10 GHz commercial module to multiplex two 10 Gb/s signals.
