Sub-Optimal Metrics for UWB Reception in Narrowband Interference
The performance of maximum likelihood metric for bit interleaved coded modulation scheme used in multiband-OFDM depends on the variance of noise power present in each sub-carrier. It is especially heavily dependent in the presence of strong narrowband interference. In this paper two soft-metrics are proposed which are not dependent on the variance of noise power.
It is seen through Monte-Carlo simulations that these metrics have good enough performance in the presence of narrowband interference.
