Abstract
An approach to kinetic evaluation of pyrolytic reactions of solid material is discussed based on the assumption that the overall reaction can be described by nth-order kinetics, n possibly being fractional. The applicability of the nth-order kinetic approach to solid state reactions is illustrated by studies on the pyrolysis of polystyrene and coals.
The possible applications to ‘single-component-kinetics’ is briefly discussed.
