Risø annual report 2000
2000 turned out to be a watershed for Risø - more than predicted at the start of the year. The dominant event during 2000 was the decision to close the DR3 research nuclear reactor and the plans to continue the neutron-based research at the Paul ScherrerInstitut in Switzerland. Another important event was the decision to transfer responsibility for decommissioning our nuclear facilities to Danish Decommissioning (DD).
The closure of DR3 meant saying farewell to a significant element in Risø's identity, but a new strategy for a Risø without nuclear facilities was approved by the Board of Governors in November 2000. The new strategy serves as a beacon for the transformation process Risø is undergoing in 2001. This Annual Report shows that we produce ahealthy return on the research funds invested in us, and it is our ambition for this return to grow over the next few years.
