Vi er nødt til at tænke nyt, hvis vi skal kunne brødføde verdens voksende befolkning, imødegå de stigende klimaudfordringer og opretholde vores levestandard. For at takle disse udfordringer skal vi finde nye cirkulære og bære dygtige måder at producere og forbruge vores ressourcer på.
Bioøkonomi kan erstatte den fossile økonomi, og ved at udvikle og kombinere nye teknologier kan virksomheder udnytte de biologiske ressourcer til langt flere formål end hidtil som medicin, ingredienser, fødevarer, materialer og energi. Det kræver, at vi forbedrer mulighederne for kaskadeanvendelse af bioressourcerne.
På den måde kan vi udvikle mange forskellige produkter fra samme biomasse og reststrømme.
