The Use of Polyvinyl-Chloride Film for Electron Beam Dosimetry

From

Risø National Laboratory for Sustainable Energy, Technical University of Denmark

The suitability of a homopolymer type of PVC film (QCA-5960, 0.015" thick) as a high-dose electron dosimeter (1-5 Mrads) has been investigated. Different heat treatments were applied in order to obtain a reasonable storage stability and an approximately linear relationship between optical density and dose over the dose range from 0.5 to 5 Mrads, The spectral range was 3900 to 5000 A, The effect of the dose rate on the coloration of PVC was studied.
