Tjærenedbrydning i lavtemperatur forgassere til biomasse. Fase 1
A two-step laboratory oven has been constructed to study tar generation and reduction under well-controlled conditions. The oven consists of two separate chambers, one for pyrolysis and one for secondary reactions. Experiments are performed by batch with pyrolysis of wheat straw at 500 deg. C. The tar generated undergoes thermal cracking in the temperature range 700-900 deg.
C with and without partial oxidation. The tar including water is collected in washing bottles containing acetone. The amount of tar is determined gravimetrically. The lighter tar components contained in the acetone solution are analyzed by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry. An important result is, that injection of small amounts of oxygen in the secondary reactor at 800-900 deg.
C leads to degradation of the tar rather than combustion of CO. Furthermore, the partial oxidation causes a breakdown of the heavier tar components whereas the concentration of aromatic components like benzene and naphthalene increases. A literature study is included about pyrolysis/gasification of biomass and tar reduction. (au).
