Decay of an Isomeric State in U234

The half-life of an isomeric state in U234 has been measured by time analyser techniques to be 33.5±2.0 μs. The γ-spectrum of the isomer was studied by delayed coincidence techniques, and energies and intensities are presented. The findings confirm the following main features of the decay scheme 1) The isomer is fed through a 126 keV γ-ray, 2) The isomer depopulates through states of the γ-vibrational band in U234.

Many details of the decay, however, are not yet clear.
