Analysis of sampled optical phase-lock loops
Sampled optical phase-lock loops are analyzed using the Z-transform. It is found that the finite sampling rate will result in an effective delay limiting the available stable gain of the loop. The analysis is applied to three example applications, optical wavelength synthesis from a pulsed reference, linear phase-tracking receivers and coherent optical receivers.
