Operational Research for Developing Countries - a case of transfer of technology

This paper is concerned with some fundamental aspects of the process of transfer of operational research from the industrialized countries to the Third World. Two complementary conceptions of operational research are identified: technical and social operational research. The main contribution of this paper is to regard the discussion of operational research for developing countries as a case of transfer of technology.

Finally, some proposals for action and further research will be briefly outlined.
