Analysis of antioxidants in polymer material by a strategy employing tandem mass spectrometry and liquid chromatography

From

Risø National Laboratory for Sustainable Energy, Technical University of Denmark1

Tandem mass spectrometry (MS-MS) and high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) have been applied for screening analysis of antioxidants in polymer material. The MS-MS technique proved to be very useful for direct analyses of organic additives, facilitating confirmation of the presence of specific compound classes.

HPLC was applied for the separation and quantification of isomers. The application is demonstrated by analyses of products stabilized by phenolic antioxidants and p-phenylenediamine derivatives.
