Application of a Virtual Enterprise Framework - Results from IMS 95001/ESPRIT 26509
This paper presents industrial proof-of-concept pilot projects from IMS95001/ESPRIT26509 "Global Manufacturing for the 21st Century" (Globeman21). The pilot projects have been mapped onto a GERAM based framework for virtual enterprise engineering and integration. The framework, likewise developed in the Globeman21 project, consists of three life cycle entities representing respectively a network entity, a virtual enterprise entity, and a product entity.
In this way the industrial pilot projects can serve as examples for use of the Virtual Enterprise Framework, as well as for inspiration for virtual enterprise engineering projects. Furthermore, the paper illustrates how the Virtual Enterprise Framework can be used for experience collection.
