Kan det lade sig gøre at fremstille insulinnåle af andet end rustfrit stål, som for eksempel plast? Det har Ronja Pereira Haase og Marianne von Freiesleben fra DTU Mekanik undersøgt i deres BA-projekt ” Polymer-Based Insulin Needles – Improved Hypodermic Drug Delivery”, som har vundet Accentures pris for bedste BA-projekt.

Valget af plast som fremstillingsmateriale gjorde det nødvendigt for de to studerende at finde ny inspiration til formgivningen af injektionsnålene, og det gjorde de ved at se på myggens snabel og træpindsvinets pigge.
