Investigations of the properties of dredged limestone fill
This paper presents the main findings of an integrated study carried out at the Kastrup peninsula reclamation site by Department of Geology and Geotechnical Engineering at the Technical University of Denmark. The purpose of the study was to evaluate homogeneity and engineering properties of dredged limestone fill that is pumped ito ponds of the reclamation site.
The work utilised a number of geophysical and geotechnical investigation techniques in the field, supplemented with laboratory testing. The study of in-situ electrical resistivities revealed larger variations in the ground conditions than were expected on the basis of information available from borehole logs.Ground deformation moduli were evaluated within an area planned for a maintenance centre by DSBmateriel using the continuous surface wave method, in conjunction with retrospective forward modelling. deformation properties calculated from these tests have been compared with those obtained by the Danish Geotechnical Institute from a combined falling weight compaction and plate loading test.
Taking into account that the surface wave test measures properties at very small strain levels (
