Mapping of 137Cs in Ida-Virumaa, June 2005. CGS Area Specific Spectrum Stripping and ESC from soil sampling

From

Department of Electrical Engineering, Technical University of Denmark1

This report describes some results from a Baltic-Danish exercise with carborne gamma-ray spectrometry (CGS) measurements performed in Estonia in the summer of 2005. The goal was to measure the low level of contamination with 137Cs that still exists as part of the fall-out from the Chernobyl accident in April 1986.

Another goal was to check the sensitivity calibration of the systems from soil sampling by the Estonian Radiation Protection Centre (ERPC).
