Grid connection of wind turbines impact on power quality is described. The report concentrates on stationary voltages, whereas other aspects are described in: Summary report. Part 2: Flicker. Part 3: Harmonics and operation of variable speed wind turbines. A probabilistic method for analysis of grid connection of wind turbines impact on the stationary voltages is developed.

The method considers the stochastic variations in wind power production and consumer loads, and calculates the risk for over- and undervolatages in the grid. Application of the method has shown that voltage controlled stop of wind turbines may be applied for avoiding overvoltages and as an alternative to reinforcing the grid.
