Photonic Services – Making the Case

This report looks into the driving forces behind a new service in the lowest layer of the telecommunication network - the Photonic Service (PS). The potential benefits for existing, emerging and potential applications which can be provided via the service are outlined, together with a critical analysis of the impact the service has on the network itself.
