pSense: An efficient and practical analog-to-information platform using COTS devices

Kexu Ma; Jiangchen Li; Junpei Han; Fan Wu; Yu Hu; Wenyao Xu

2016 China Semiconductor Technology International Conference (cstic) — 2016, pp. 1-3

A challenge in wireless sensing is to reduce power consumption during data transmission. Various methods aim at compressing amounts of data after sampling, which require additional computation energy or hardware. In this paper, pSense, a low complexity commercial off-the-shelf based (COTS-based

Defining Rules Among Devices in Smart Environment Using an Augmented Reality Headset

We present a pilot study that uses optical head-mounted displays (OHMD) as an augmented reality headset to view and define rules among various augmented objects in the environment. In the traditional augmented reality techniques on mobile devices, the users must hold the devices in their hands

A 40.68-MHz Active Rectifier Using an Inverter-Based Conduction-Time Generator for Wirelessly Powered Implantable Medical Devices

This brief presents a 40.68-MHz active rectifier with a near-zero-quiescent-current inverter-based conduction-time generator for wirelessly powered implantable devices. By using the proposed scheme, the rectifier achieves near-optimum switching operation with negligible turn-on and -off delays and thus high power conversion efficiency even at very high frequency such as 40.68 MHz. The active rectifier was fabricated in a standard 0.18 $\mu \text{m}$ CMOS process. With a 500- ${\Omega }$ load resistor, the measured power conversion efficiency is higher than 87% through the whole input ran...

Text entry for mobile devices using ad-hoc abbreviation

Pini, Stefano; Han, Sangmok; Wallace, David R.

Proceedings of the International Conference on Advanced Visual Interfaces — 2010, pp. 181-188

This paper presents a new method for improving the number of keystrokes and time required for text entry on mobile devices using ad-hoc abbreviations. The approach is easy-to-use because: users are not required to learn any pre-defined abbreviation rules; abbreviated input phrases are automatically
