Improving Face Detection with TOE Cameras

A face detection method based on a boosted classifier using images from a time-of-flight sensor is presented. We show that the performance of face detection can be improved when using both depth and gray scale images and that the common use of integration of hypotheses for verification can be relaxed.

Based on the detected face we employ an active contour method on depth images for full head segmentation.
