An 8-shot injector for H and D pellets built at Riso National Laboratory has been installed on the RFX reverse field pinch. The paper presents the design and performance of the system. The specifications for pellet masses, velocities and injection angles are based on a study performed with a pellet ablation code on a set of injection scenarios in RFX. The injector produces by in-situ condensation 8 pellets with masses of 1.5+5/spl middot/10/sup 20/ atoms and pneumatically accelerates them with H gas at velocity of 0.5+1.5 km/s.
