This paper aims to describe an approximated method for estimating the costs of electroplating processes, by trying to consider only the most important parameters involved, and simplifying their choice. The goal is to set a simple but reliable method, which can be used to get an overall idea of the costs involved in these processes.Electroplating cost are based on 3 main components material, labour and equipment.

Labour is definitely the most important, especially for common metals plating where the cost of the material is not so relevant.Another important parameter to consider is the surface area of the object to be coated. In fact, it has an influence on all the three above-mentioned factors. An empirical method to estimate the value of surface areas of different objects is also described.
