Plasticity models can be defined by an energy potential, a plastic flow potential and a yield surface. The energy potential defines the relation between the observable elastic strains ϒe and the energy conjugate stresses Τe and between the non-observable internal strains i and the energy conjugate internal stresses Τi, where the internal stresses control the various hardening mechanisms.
