Large scale deployment of electric vehicles (EVs) and heat pumps (HPs) holds great potential not only to limit the greenhouse gas (GHG) emission and fossil fuel consumption in the transportation and heating sectors but also to cope with the intermittency due to the further utilization of renewable energy sources (RES) in the Nordic region including Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden.

It is therefore an important pathway to the goal of achieving a carbon neutral electric power system in the Nordic region by 2050.
