Motordrift på forgasningsgas fra DTUs to-trins forgasser
The aim of the project is to investigate the effects of using gasification gas as fuel in a motor. This is interesting, because the gas has a large content of particles and tars. Besides, the gas has a very low calorific value (5 MJ/Nm3), which results in lower efficiency. The high hydrogen content of gasification gas (up to 35%) also causes motor problems in the form of back-firing, i.e. back-firing in the intake system.
A FORD VSG 411 industry motor was used for testing. The results can be summarised as follows: low NO_x and UHC (Unburned Hydrocarbons) emissions; no problems with tar and particles in the gas; no corrosion problems; no problems with lubricating oil; smaller effect and efficiency loss than expected; good load efficiency ratio; no knock problems; large CO_2 emissions; back-firing problems; problems with motor corrosion by stand-still.
