Mathematical Model for Multicomponent Adsorption Equilibria Using Only Pure Component Data

In Adsorption Science and Technology, Do, D.d. (ed.) — 2000
From

Department of Chemical and Biochemical Engineering, Technical University of Denmark1

A mathematical model for nonideal adsorption equilibria in multicomponent mixtures is developed. It is applied with good results for pure substances and for prediction of strongly nonideal multicomponent equilibria using only pure component data. The model accounts for adsorbent-adsorbate and adsorbate-adsorbate interactions.

The lateral interactions between molecules in the adsorbate phase are calculated from isosteric heat of adsorption for each component. Nonideal behaviour of the fluid phase is also considered.
