Three-wave interaction during electron cyclotron resonance heating and current drive
Non-linear wave-wave interactions in fusion plasmas, such as the parametric decay instability (PDI) of gyrotron radiation, can potentially hamper the use of microwave diagnostics. Here we report on anomalous scattering in the ASDEX Upgrade tokamak during electron cyclotron resonance heating experiments.
The observations can be linked to parametric decay of the gyrotron radiation at the second harmonic upper hybrid resonance layer.
