The dynamics of a 2 MW DFIG wind turbine are studied during electrical AC faults, and wind disturbances. A simulation platform that couples HAWC2, and Matlab/Simulink was used. High frequencies of the gear box, and power electronics are neglected. It was shown that the dynamics of the dc-link are influenced by turbulence, and wind gusts.

An AC fault that triggers protection systems was simulated, and the influence on the dc-link voltage, shaft and tower loading illustrated.
