On the foundation dynamics and the active control of flexible rotors via active magnetic bearings
A high-speed blower consisting of a flexible shaft supported by two radial active magnetic bearings and an axial passive magnetic bearing is theoretically and experimentally analysed. The blower is mounted on a t-slot plate and the interactions between the shaft, the housing, and the t-slot plate are under consideration.
It is investigated if the dynamical contribution from the foundation dynamics (t-slot plate plus housing) to the frequency response function of the high-speed blower can be reduced by including some of the most influential dynamics (mode shapes) of the foundation in the control object using a model-based control design.
