Technical Push-ups in Political Straitjacket

The paper presents comments and critique of the Danish Government´s energy plan "Energy 21" with special attention to the demand side. The overall targets of a 20% reduction of CO2-emission by the year 2010 and 50 % by 2030 in Energy 21 are fine. The measures to reach them, however, are focusing too much at the supply side, making the solutions more difficult than necessary.

Also the government´s proposals lack integration with the rest of the development, mainly with the economic policy. Future constraint on the use of renewable energy are outlined. At the end is skethed an alternative development in Denmark´s primary energy consumption up till the year 2030.
