Developing the Business Model – a Methodology for Virtual Enterprises

In Handbook on Enterprise Architectures — 2003, pp. 291-308
From

Department of Management Engineering, Technical University of Denmark1

This chapter presents a methodology to develop Virtual Enterprises (VEs). This Virtual Enterprise Methodology (VEM) outlines activities to consider when setting up and managing virtual enterprises. As a methodology the VEM helps companies to ask the right questions when preparing for, and setting up an Enterprise Network, which works as a breeding ground for setting up VEs.

The VEM applies the Virtual Enterprise Reference Architecture (VERA) as an underlying structure. VERA is a specialisation of GERA, which is a component of the GERAM Framework (Generalised Enterprise Reference Architecture and Methodology ISO15704:2000).
