Fast dispersive beam deflectors and modulators

From

Department of Physics, Technical University of Denmark1

A new method for one-dimensional light scanning is proposed. It is based on the use of ordinary dispersive optical components like prisms, gratings, etc. By electrooptic tuning of the output wavelength of broad-band lasers, fast scanners (up to 10 gigapixels/s) can be constructed. Deflection angles and numbers of pixels are derived for the prism, grating, Fabry-Perot etalon, and phase-matched frequency doubler crystal.

Experimental results on the frequency doubler device are presented.
