In June 2017 EFSA published a new scientific opinion on nitrites as food additives (EFSA, 2017). The Danish Veterinary and Food Administration subsequently asked the DTU National Food Institute (DTU food) to evaluate new relevant information in regard to the Institute’s former risk assessments. This assessment was delivered on the 13th september 2017 (DTU DOC nr.17/05741).
In February 2020 The Danish Veterinary and Food Administration asked the DTU food to re-evaluate this assessment given updated exposure data and new scientific findings.
