A broad table-like entropy change (ΔS) at room temperature has been observed in the ferromagnetic compound La0.75Ca0.15Sr0.10MnO3, which is analyzed in the concept of Landau theory and with critical exponent analysis obtained from the magnetization measurements. The change in entropy in La0.75Ca0.15Sr0.10MnO3 is discussed in the light of magnetoelastic coupling between the magnetization and the lattice distortion.
Application aspects of this unusual broad magnetocaloric effect with relative cooling power of 107 J kg−1 in an applied magnetic field of 1.6 T with an operating temperature range of 93 K around the room temperature are also discussed.
