Substituted Indoleacetic Acids Tested in Tissue Cultures

Monochloro substituted IAA inhibited shoot induction in tobacco tissue cultures about as much as IAA. Dichloro substituted IAA inhibited shoot formation less. Other substituted IAA except 5-fluoro- and 5-bromoindole-3-acetic acid were less active than IAA. Callus growth was quite variable and not correlated with auxin strength measured in the Avena coleoptile test.
