The underlying principle in Product/Service-Systems (PSS) strategy is to shift from business based on the value of the transfer of product ownership and responsibility, to business based on the value of utility of the product and services. This paper identifies characteristics of various strategies that may be applied in PSS development.

PSS concepts created in projects by third year Design & Innovation students at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU) working with product-life oriented design approaches were reviewed, and the strategies developed were analysed. This identification and mapping of PSS strategy types gives us the opportunity to develop methods and approaches to PSS development, more tailored to specific business strategies.
