In this paper, the first part out of three, we present the trajectory of decades of research in AI and Robotics by highlight the continuity of our method that has always taken into consideration the common user's point of view as a priority. We call such an approach User-Friendly Robotics, and we hereby unravel it by describing our path step-by-step, to see on one side its evolution and on the other its methodological continuity.

Therefore, starting from the earliest AI-based applications, which are mainly described in this paper, we slowly move-up towards the first Robotics ones to finally describe the last results of our research. We discuss how this User-Friendly Robotics approach leads to solutions that fit particular purposes in society and lead to useful user interaction with technological developments.
