Dichroism versus chirality in plasmonic dimer metamaterials: A multipole approach

In Aip Conference Proceedings — 2012, Volume 1475, Issue 1, pp. 101-103

Edited by Chigrin, Dmitry N.

We present a detailed calculation for the optical response of a planar metamaterial composed of plasmonic rod dimers. Using the covariant multipole Green's function approach, contributions pertaining to elliptical dichroism and optical activity (chirality) are identified. It is shown that optical properties of dimers with planar geometry are dominated by dichroism whereas those of non-planar geometries are dominated by chirality.
