Uncertainties and Wakes for Short-term Power Production of a Wind Farm
Similar to the conventional power plants, the wind farms are expected to contribute to the grid stability and communicate with the system operators regarding the potential power production on much shorter time scales than AEP or even 10-min. Additionally, increasing interest to aerodynamic control of wind farms, both in the research community and in the industry, necessitates the wake models to be more accurate and reliable at shorter intervals.
In this study, we discuss the uncertainties attached to an engineering wake model derived for 1-sec turbine data, and investigate the methods for reducing the uncertainty of such an application via further training the model for the wind farm and the time period in question using the historical data.
