Improving the resolution of beamforming measurements on wind turbines

The spatial resolution of a beamformer based on a planar microphone array in a measurement plane parallel to the array can be approximated by a two-dimensional convolution of the actual distribution of incoherent sources and the beamformer’s response to a point source. Several methods are available for deconvolving the resulting blurred picture and thus improving the resulting resolution.

This investigation is concerned with a similar deconvolution for the three-dimensional case.
